Position of Azerbaijan on situation on Gaza Strip.

We are following with profound apprehension the escalation of violence in the Gaza Strip and express our deep concern over loss of life of hundreds of innocent civilians.

Azerbaijan supports just, peaceful and durable resolution of the conflict that would lead to creation of the sovereign Palestinian state living side-by-side and in peace with Israel.

There must be an immediate cease-fire and an end to military hostilities to create necessary conditions to normalize the situation. We stand for urgent active engagement on international community, including through undertaking practical measures in the conflict zone, to prevent violence and other undesirable actions.

There is a need for decisive steps to create conditions on the ground to enable delivery of urgent humanitarian assistance to the heavily suffered Palestinian population in Gaza Strip.

We must provide the opportunity for the Palestinian people to realize its right to establish sovereign State op Palestine.
