Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Kohout visited Azerbaijan


Baku, May 14 - Czech delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Kohout visited Azerbaijan and met with H E Ilham Aliyev, President of the Azerbaijan, Prime Minister Artur Rasi-zade and Elmar Mammadyarov, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

On the meetings were discussed bilateral and regional cooperation in political, economic, humanitarian, energy and tourism spheres. Touching upon the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Czech Deputy Prime Minister said that Czech Republic is ready to contribute to settlement of the problem and the conflict must be resolved on the basis of the norms and principles of international law, particularly the principle of territorial integrity of countries.

Czech Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Kohout has also visited the Alley of Honors to lay a wreath at the tomb of Azerbaijan's national leader Heydar Aliyev and put flowers at the grave of prominent ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva.

Mr. Kohout laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame monument on Alley of Martyrs to commemorate Azerbaijani shahids who gave their lives for the country's independence and territorial integrity.

On the same day Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov and his Czech counterpart Jan Kohout singed an agreement to launch Baku-Prague flights.
