Memorandum on establishment of Azerbaijan and Caspian Studies Center signed .
Prague, May 21, 2008 -Today Tahir Taghizade, Azerbaijani Ambassador to the Czech Republic and Petr Fiala, Rector of Masaryk University signed a memorandum on Establishment of Azerbaijan and Caspian Studies Center.

Proposal to establish such a center was a joint initiative of the Embassy of Azerbaijan to the Czech Republic and Masaryk University.

The Center is to be established at International Institute of Political Science of Masaryk University. The center aims at promoting Azerbaijan and broader Caspian region, encouraging the study of region's history, culture and politics, facilitating access to information and publications on Azerbaijan, raising awareness of the region's problems, providing up-to-date information on Azerbaijan and broader Caspian region to researches and public.

All logistical and financial needs of the Center will be jointly covered by the Azerbaijani Embassy and Masaryk University.

The Embassy expresses its gratitude to the leadership of Masaryk University for cooperation over establishment of the Center, as well as to all whose contribution to the process was crucial. The Embassy is confident that establishment of the Center is a very important step towards strengthening bilateral ties between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic which stands the highest among the list of primary objectives of the Center.
